Making Up | Finntana

santana—-lopezz:

Santana pressed her lips together at the sight of him, not wanting to show just how happy she was to see him…especially because this meeting was on a much lighter note than their last one. Santana knew from all the movies that the friends with benefits thing very rarely worked out the way it was supposed to, but she figured things with she and Finn might be different…as long as she kept her promise and as long as he didn’t try to end things again. “Hey.” She replied to his greeting, simply nodding at his explanation, leaving out just how cute she thought it was that he was the one doing the cleaning, whereas Santana had never washed a dish in her life. “Thank you.” She said, once hearing his compliment, no longer able to fight the smile that was threatening to take over her face. She was still wearing her clothes from the Christmas party - a short red dress and some black boots she’d waited to wear all year - but her hair, which had started out smooth and perfect, had some of it’s natural wildness after the short walk. Santana’s eyes looked him over, and though he was the best thing she’d seen all night, she didn’t return the compliment. Instead she simply closed the space between them, wrapping her arms around him in a hug. It had been her original intention to instead initiate a kiss, but there was no denying that she loved the feeling that came from hugging his big, warm body, especially when she’d been out in the cold. Still, once she looked up at him, a smile still gracing her face…she couldn’t help but stand on her tippy toes and press a surprisingly gentle kiss to his lips, her eyes closing on contact.

Finn knew about all of Santana’s little games that she liked to play, so he knew better than to be offended by her being quiet or reserved. He had spent a long morning with her in detention, he had seen first hand all the little things that she did when she had to entertain herself, and ultimately, this was Santana trying to entertain herself. But he did mean it. She looked fantastic, like always. He couldn’t actually think of a time when he’d seen Santana where she didn’t look amazing. But tonight, it was undeniable, she looked even better than usual. “You’re welcome,” he nodded, returning the hug as he rested his chin on top of her head. She smelled like Christmas - it was weird, because it wasn’t like Christmas had an actual smell, but if he had to imagine what Christmas smelled like… this would be it. It was like a mix of pine trees and candy canes and a bunch of other wonderful things. Returning her kiss, Finn kept a hand on her waist. “Merry Christmas,” he grinned, as he pulled away. “I’m glad we can spend at least some of it together.”
